Can I ask a daft teccie question please? My daughter is taking a 6 month flat let in Cardiff. It comes with an internet connection point although she is responsible for BT connection charges and any contract with an internet service provider. I've just spent a baffling afternoon - it seems as if there are some month by month ISPs but these are more expensive over 6 months than taking a 12 month contract and we still need line rental with BT. But otherwise it looks like it's a 12 or 18 month contract which seems daft. Bizarrely it looks like the cheapest/simplest option is to sign up for 12 months with BT and only use it for 6 months - how on earth can that be right? Ideally it would be good to find a service provider that will supply over 6 months - if necessary for a payment upfront. Does anyone know if such a thing exists please? Or is it better paying for a 4G data connection on her iphone and using it to access the internet? All ideas gratefully received. Many thanks. |
