The sick, the lame and the lazy: As we heard last night the wider the CPZ perimeter is drawn the more "inter-zonal" traffic there will be. In my judgement the three streets to suffer most from "inter-zonal traffic" will be Elmwood Road (close to Gunnersbury Station), Lawford Road and the bottom of Park Road (close to Chiswick Station). My home is on the corner of Park Rd and Lawford Road and I "enjoy" off street parking. Odd not hear more comments about the fact that vehicle speeds in Park Road have increased post CPZ and that the average number of cars travelling north on that road has leaped from 18 to 28 an hour. Has the CPZ made this road any safer? I guess we will soon be hearing requests for a 20 mph speed limit .... Apparently car crime in Park Road is down since the CPZ was introduced and that of course is to be welcomed. Just how crucial is the Staveley Road (eastern arm) scheme? Only 23 Staveley Road households (out of 78) have actually bought parking permits. The western arm of Staveley Road is consequently on most days full of displaced parking (much to residents annoyance) whilst the eastern arm is largely empty. This, and the now heavily parked Lawford Road demonstrates (in my opinion) just how deeply flawed the original CPZ 'solution' imposed on Grove Park was. |
