"When will the law be changed so that anyone who stabs anyone else is charged with attempted murder and get sentenced as such" Why would making the law harder to use for the police and prosecutors help? It's harder to prove attempted murder (you've got to prove they intended death rather than intimidation or wounding), so you're risking letting them get away with it, rather than charging with a blindingly obvious open and shut offence like GBH. From wikipedia: 'Attempted murder is only the planning of a murder and acts taken towards it, not the actual killing, which is the murder. This makes the offence difficult to prove and it is more common for a lesser charge to be preferred under the Offences against the Person Act 1861.' |
