"Every day I see people in work clothes parking up, getting out of the car and heading to underpass to get to Gunnersbury" No doubt these people would much rather park nearer the station, somewhere like Harvard Road alongside the A4 where very few residents need on-road parking. But, alas, someone decided to put a CPZ in there and displaced the cars to the other side of the A4. I do not know why people need to use their cars to access the public transport network, and nor does LBH, as they refuse to undertake a survey to find out. Not everyone lives within reasonable walking distance of a train or tube station, and therefore some need to use their cars to reach one. Why some on this forum seem to demonise such people I know not. What LBH should be doing is establishing why there is such a need, and seeking ways of satisfying it, not dumping ill-conceived CPZs on the area. The best solution would be to take over the under-used car parks at Gunnersbury station and establish a park-and-ride scheme there. However as the owners are currently seeing those underused car parks as prime development material, sadly that is unlikely to happen. |
