Hi M Not sure what your point is? Are you saying that only those who live in a road should be ale to park there? And everyone else (commuters, visitors...) should be banned? And yours is just another anecdote to add to the long list. It might be absolutely correct (I am sure it probably is) but it doesn't constitute evidence or fact. If only LBH would have done some proper research / counting cars across the area, we would not have to play this endless ping pong of peoples' views and opinions (I can never park, I saw someone park there, my sister in law, my mother, white vans, never any spaces...). It's all just opinions and prejudices. Some of it perfectly correct, some just made up rubbish. Impossible to tell one from the other. The small band of pro-CPZ residents in Park Road used to bang on about how dangerous Park Road was without CPZ, white vans doing 60mph, women and children having to leap for their very lives to avoid being mown down, and so on. They got very animated about it. Until LBH Traffic actually carried out a full traffic survey in Park Road and proved that traffic speeds were amongst the lowest in the area, and there had been virtually no accidents in the previous, five year. So the pro-CPZ lot had to stop peddling their rubbish "dangerous speeding traffic" argument. That's what happens when you do proper research, you can separate out the truth from the nonsense biased ranting. What we need is the facts. And LBH have consistently refused to support that. Their view, as clearly expressed by Councillor Paul Lynch in his email to me, is "doing research would just be an expensive waste of public resource". they don't need the facts. They know what they are going to do, the facts play no part in it. |
