One problem with plants and fences is that plants, especially climbers have no respect for boundaries and just grow where they please. The house opposite us has an alley beside it and they have a pink Clematis growing on their garden fence which has, over the years, practically covered the length and height of the said fence - but it has also flipped over the top and is now hanging down at least 3ft into the alley. It looks lovely when in flower, but if the owners of the alley decided to trim it back to the top of the fence it would not look good and would probably fall back into the garden. Maybe something like this happened here! |
