It would be good if you actually reduced the amount of electricity that you used when you dimmed the lights - but I understand that you don't. I would like to be able to turn the lights up when I have lost an earring/contact lens etc and keep it less bright at other times. I absolutely loathe dingy dark hotel rooms where you can't find something you've dropped or check you've not left anything behind easily.  (I'll never forget crawling across the carpet in Honolulu looking for a little padlock lent by mother for a sailbag.  She managed to still have a ruler she used at school some 80 years later!  How times have changed.) If we were to change to LEDs in the kitchen the cats would lose their nice warm place to sit in the spotlight.
