I'm not sure that it was entirely fair to post the complaint about Wheelers on the forum, although I suppose if Amanda had taken the matter up with the manager and received short shrift, perhaps she felt it was her last recourse. However, it was almost certainly unwise of her to post, given the propensity of the Chiswick bourgeoisie to pass judgement. It was quite predictable that several posters would suggest it was her fault, although I am surprised that Stuart fell into this camp - he's normally a debunker of smug superiority. The fact is that, if Wheelers did cut the bushes on Amanda's side of the fence, rather than just the branches overhanging her neighbour's garden, then they were in the wrong, regardless of any instructions given by the neighbour. I've always found Wheelers to be first-rate, but perhaps the manager got out of bed the wrong side on this occasion. Let's cut Amanda some slack instead of instantly assuming it was her attitude that provoked an unhelpful response. |
