I was a little bit surprised and very disappointed to discover that Hounslow Council has decided to celebrate its 50th year of existence with a Black Tie dinner at the Civic Centre on 28th February. Given the huge cuts in services that they are currently implementing, a junket for the "great and the good" of the borough should not have been a high priority. After all, all 32 London Boroughs came into being as a result of local government reorganisation 50 years ago, so Hounslow is hardly in a unique position. Chiswick councillors have been vocal on this forum in their criticism of the current ruling party in Hounslow. I trust they will boycott this junket in protest at this waste of council taxpayers' funds. |
