You are going down the wrong road here. CHRAG repeatedly said that redevelopment was welcome and needed but the problems lay in the quality of the design and in particular the overdevelopment of the land to the rear. Would you seriously contemplate living in an apartment (there will be 8 storeys of them) which is built right up to the boundary of the loading bays for the Sainsbury store. This area operates 24hours of each day with lorries arriving at all time and particularly at night when the roads are easier. I envisage that tenants will start a campaign about the noise and Sainsbury will be in the firing line which will be grossly unfair. As Lend Lease has said these apartments are for sale at the high end of the market. The other bone of contention has been the lack of affordable housing or, at the very least, that Lend Lease will not commit or say if, when or whether they will be building. |
