A lot of them came from flightpath trials over the summer which caused previously dispersed routes to be concentrated into narrow corridors (Teddington) and to overfly areas that had not been exposed to low flying planes before (Ascot etc). Further trials due to have taken place over Slough/Burnham and South London(on the Dover route) were cancelled and the trial programme was put back to next Autumn (after the election and the Airports Commission report). The level of complaints indicates how upset people can be when a new route is suddenly inflicted on them (beware the third runway and say, the illustrative/indicative routes on p40-44 of https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/371854/14-operational-efficiency--airspace.pdf !). |
