From what I've read, the excuse of supposedly not being able to contact the birthday boy/girl's parents to tell them that their child now couldn't attend doesn't stand up. Nevertheless, it beggars belief that the birthday boy/girl's parents would prepare an invoice, and also that they would get a teacher to put that invoice in the child's bag rather than delivering it to the parents direct. Reflects very badly on the teacher too. Furthermore, from what I read the ski place where the party was held doesn't normally charge for an absent guest, and presumably in this case they didn't charge for the one absent person, so effectively the parents are trying to cash in/profit from the absence, rather than genuinely being £15.95 worse off. Got to feel for the poor kids who are caught up in such an absurd and unnecessary situation. |
