Thanks all... alas it is unlikely that it is in the house (although I have checked absolutely everywhere). It is a lever-back ear ring, which clips shut and is usually pretty secure, but that afternoon, I was wearing a polo-neck jersey and a great swathe of scarf, whilst also using a mobile phone. It must have become dislodged at that time because it had been in my 'phone' ear. I use the plastic rings on fishhook type earrings, but even secure of earrings can get dislodged. A couple of years ago, I posted here about a gold and pearl one that went astray in Chiswick House. Unfortunately, that was never found either. Must be the combination of polo neck and scarves in cold weather that does the damage! |
