Message: I disagree about smart tv, but you can have smartness in other boxes too. The main bane of any media player is keeping up with the codecs peole encode their audio and video using, these things are fluid and always advancing. To keep up a player has to be able to get downloads from a dedicated support outfit. IMHO the best of the bunch is samsung. I have about 50k video files, several storage servers worth, and samsung smart tvs play it all, networked or wifi, have apps on mobile devices to throw and control output, great dlna clients (work with not against real media servers) and are generally mother proof. The even better news is that the smart media stuff is also included in their bluray players, effectively the better ones are harddisk recorders with smart tv, apps, oh and bluray/dvd i guess for those who aint virtual yet. So all that for 100 quid without a screen or more with. |
