'Spiked are utter pricks though, full of self-styled contrarians who push an agenda suspiciously aligned to the authoritarian anti-environmental neo-liberalism you get from the likes of Murdoch or the Daily Mail ' Parklife! I'm not really interested in what heresy towards left-wing orthodoxy that the people behind Spiked have committed warranting such bile. I became a subscriber (it's free) some years ago after a recommendation on this forum. I am most certainly not a Marxist and disagree with the standpoint of a majority of the contributors. Nevertheless I find it a compelling read. There are none of the lazy polemics that make newspapers like the Guardian and the Independent unreadable at the moment and the range of contributors to Spiked means that they usually well qualified to have a view on the topic they are writing about. If you want your opinions bolstered by like-minded people read the Telegraph, the Mail, the Independent or the Guardian. On the other hand if you'd like your opinions challenged and are prepared once in a while to change them then you should subscribe to Spiked. |
