In Ealing there are Christmas trees all over the pavements - even where there is clearly space in the gardens of the houses they have obviously come from for them to be safely and obviously placed there until collection which some residents have done. There are also collection points in the local parks and it beats me why people who manage to drag the things home can't make the effort to dragging them to the nearest park to dispose of them properly. The ritual of having a real Christmas tree should include disposing of it properly and not just dumping it as a trip hazard on the pavement. Where are the fines? Apparently they are to be collected by the garden waste collection team. The garden waste collection is fortnightly. There was NO NOTICE outside the park I walked through advertising the collection although inside there was a lovely smelling pile of pine trees. A disappointing effort by both the Council and those residents who don't look for the information and respect their neighbours by keeping the pavements clear. http://www.ealing.gov.uk/news/article/1143/christmas_refuse_and_recycling PS If you have left your tree out for collection you need to make sure that it isn't bigger than the dimensions specified. |
