Julian, apparently the BBC has put it's name forward hoping to gain an award for the coverage of the South Yorkshire Police raid on Sir Cliff's apartment. It would appear they did not do very well at last years awards! I don't think they deaerve any such reward, we seem to now have TRIAL BY MEDIA what happened to INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY? This could happen to any person whether a celebrity or you or me! As someone wrote in the newspaper the other day, it is a wonder they didn't have helicopters hovering over Windsor Castle recently. There has been an enormous amount of damage done to Sir Cliff's name and reputation, one can understand the BBC covering a story if a person has been arrested, or charged, in Cliff Richard's case he had not even been approched by South Yorkshire Police at the time of the raid, the BBC threatened to run the story unless they were allowed to have exclusive access to the raid. This is unprecedented and as was Stated by a QC, it brings into question whether this action was actually legal. If the police had advised a judge that the BBC would be covering the raid on live television with a helicopter on site then it doubtful whether a search warrant would have been issued under those circumstances. The BBC should perhaps look closer to home bearing in mind the way they covered up the antics of people like Jimmy Saville. South Yorkshire Police wanted to deflect away from their failure to act in Rotherham when over 1,400 women were being abused for over 10 years, hence their willingness to pick on Sir Cliff. The BBC has waged a vandetta against Sir Cliff for years and this is the proof! |
