I remember a programme called LA Law from years ago which helped you keep up by showing a short segment at the beginning of each programme under the title "Previously on LA Law ......" but that was to help with the ongoing storylines from week to week.

I think that, if a programme such as Broadchurch continues after 1 1/2 years, it behoves them to show beforehand a short summary of the story so far - both to remind old viewers and to bring new ones up to date. Perhaps they don't do so, however, to encourage us to buy the boxed sets to watch at our leisure in due course!
