I am sure the reality in Middlesbrough or Sheffield would not be the same. Buying your own place to live is a very good thing to do if you can imo and any help that the state can give you to get on the ladder is a good long term idea for it as well, again imo.It gives people a greater sense of belonging to an area and gives more of a stake in an area and in society in general. Perhaps New Labour or whatever they are called now, having accepted the policy of right to buy, could offer a similar % of discount that the Tories did but pledge to build more social housing with any monies received. I don't see how that goes against their philosophy and it would be popular amongst the working class, who they are supposed to represent( laughs)... |
