I’m all for flexible working and this might work for some professions/people. But certainly not for all, or even most. So, we lose the face to face human interaction in our working lives and are separated from family and friends because we can not afford to live where we can afford to commute and we cannot afford to commute from where we can afford to live? Quite a dystopian future there. This is without the petty concern of the psychological advantage of having a physical separation between our working and personal lives. My friend, who is working hard to start his own business, has recently moved to Hartlepool so as to be able to afford to rent both a room and some office space. He found that working from home made it too difficult to switch off and relax. |
