| Vanessa, the type of wastage I speak of was countrywide.It wasn't just the London regions.It seemed to be a competition to see which Health Authority could spend the most.During the period prior to the inauguration of NHS Direct, I was part of the team that was looking at GP Co-operatives and out of hours services.A doctors out of hours service in Ireland was running the service and I was interested in the software they were using for sending doctors notes from their base to a visiting doctor in a car.I asked for a copy of the operators manual to see what the system could cope with, but instead they flew me to Belfast, with a stopover.I came back 2 days later with the manual, which could have been put in the post for about a fiver.Utter madness. |
