The paper bank In the High Road was removed some time ago. They are costly to empty and need a truck with a crane which kept demolishing the surrounding walls. It always contained everything else including carpets! The charity shoe bin ( not the councils responsibility) was also removed. The glass and cans bins are largely used by pubs and restaurants. They tend to arrive in supermarket trolleys and they shouldn't be.. They can be seen travelling from Devonshire Road and are often tipped out onto the ground. There also piles of boxes from shops left there. The textiles bin is still there and helpful for people in flats over shops where textiles aren't collected. Apart from that there is the usual fly tipping of everything else and broken glass scattered about. The cost of Wheelie bins! How effective are they? |
