I really doubt that the lack of humidity is the problem. I have never heard of a house being too dry. Moist air causes poor sleep, congested breathing problems, etc. People in dry countries never use humidifiers, unless it's a method to inhale some sort of vapour medicine, and even then, it's a bowl of hot water with a cloth over your head for a few minutes.
