Keith, they can't keep everyone happy. They are seeing their standards of living decline year on year.Nurses and ambulance personnel are leaving the service in droves because they cannot afford to live in London on their salary. The cardiac unit I was in a couple of weeks ago was staffed entirely by Asian and Spanish nurses who had been recruited in their home lands. These foreign nurses are being recruited because English nurses can no longer exist on what they are being paid. It's bloody typical of this government.Rather than accept these people are doing a wonderful job and pay them a living wage, they would rather recruit cheaper labour from abroad.NHS staff need to take strike action that people will notice.Sure a 12 strike will be mildly inconvenient for a few people, but the majority of the general public will not even be aware of the strike. For a strike to be effective it needs to inconvenience people. That way is the only way to bring pressure onto the government to sort it out.I am sure most of the public would support an all out strike. It would settle the wages problem. It's no good Cameron blabbing on about how much he is spending on the NHS when it is being spent in the wrong places.I for one would certainly back them up, and I am probably more likely to need these peoples services than most others on this forum |
