A number of modern day missiles fire a burst of shrapnel to weaken the body of a hull before the point of impact causing maximum damage. Those holes you describe are not from machine gun fire, but part of a standard weapon system which includes a BUK. You'd have to be pretty dumb to think a ground soldier could fire such a centrified density of bullets into a high flying plane. |
