Una, one or all of the reasons you gave for the delay are possible, but the one thing I have found with all departments in all hospitals is that the last person to know what is going on is the patient.I was there for 7 hours. How difficult would it have been for someone to say "I'm sorry for the delay but we've had sn emergency we had to deal with"But unfortunately in my experience patients are nothing but an inconvenience.Twice while I was lying in that cubicle someone came in to tell me I was next but nobody could be bothered to tell me why I wasn't seen next.It just seemed perfectly acceptable to leave me there. It was known I was diabetic yet nobody checked my blood glucose levels and as the only time anyone came in was to tell me I was next I could have become hypoglycaemic and unconcious, and if nobody had come in then, I could possibly have died. That wouldn't have looked to good would it.I have no complaints about the staff at all, they were great, but everything else was dreadful |
