Andy, you are of course right. Please send your complaint to Heidi Smoult, head of the Care Quality Commission team inspecting the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. And the Patients Liaison Service, and the Imperial's complaints procedure.
I suspect (1) that there were not enough radiologists or specialised nurses to provide the service, or (2) that there may have been emergency cases (heart attacks) which were put through ahead of you, or (3) that a piece of equipment may have been unavailable. Or a mix of some or all of these. Predictably increasing numbers of elderly patients are turning up in A&E with serious conditions and this is throwing the schedule for planned procedures such as yours. See if you can be referred to a cardiac department in a more affluent, central London hospital. I hate to say this, but they have more money = better service. |
