Overall there is plenty of choice but this is not a golden age for eating out in Chiswick. Some of our better restaurants are not quite as good as they were a few years ago and the new entrants haven't really been very exciting. Annie's would be my top pick after La Trompette particularly if you are looking for somewhere more relaxed. Michael Nadra's is still good but not quite as marvellous as it used to be. My understanding is that man himself isn't spending as much time at the restaurant. Le Vacherin can be great but can be poor - it is pot luck really and you rarely see Malcolm John there any more. The food is quite rich so not for someone counting calories. Sam's has been a reliable place to get a very good meal for the last few years and I would say this would be your best bet if you want to stay near the High Road. Quantus is okay value but not quite as high a standard as some of the others mentioned. Hedone is a triumph of PR over substance. Charlottes is just the wrong shape and although still okay food wise I've experienced a slow slide in the quality of meals I've had there.
