Unfortunately Geoffrey bought the most expensive premium lager and the most expensive white wine (sold by the glass) in the Griffin. Personally I buy the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by the bottle which I think is £19.00 and actually cheaper than in many other pubs be they Fullers or otherwise i.e. (£8.95 or £26 a bottle in the Weir). I know nothing about beer prices anywhere because I don't drink it but I think that most of the beer prices at the Griffin are comparable with most other pubs but, as someone else said, they are a bit hamstrung by the prices they have to pay to the brewery. It is a tied house. Geoffrey could have bought a large glass of the house white which is a pretty good Rioja and that would have cost him £6.20 or (£17 a bottle) and a pint of Fosters or Carling which would have come to approx £10 |
