2 lovely dogs... bet they wouldn't call you lovely owners. It is completely unacceptable to leave your dogs largely unattended for "a few days". You should not leave them unattended overnight at all and not for more than 4 hours at a stretch on a regular basis. If they make a noise you could find yourself in subject to a nuisance complaint quite apart from the welfare considerations. What would you do if one of them escaped while you were away or became ill when no one was there? How would someone feel if they came in to check on them and they had choked on something that they had eaten or poisoned themselves or even vomited, defected and urinated everywhere? It is imperative that you arrange for a competent adult to house sit if you cannot take your dogs with you and to fulfil all your dogs' requirements for food, water, exercise, stimulation and company whilst you are away. They are living creatures and you are totally responsible for their needs, morally and legally, even if you find that inconvenient because you want to go away. Frankly, I am appalled that you could even consider not taking your dogs with you or making proper arrangements well in advance. |
