In Lagos (1980 ish) they disconnected the fuel line underneath the rear of the car, jammed a pencil in the fuel line, (Peugeot 505) while you waited in a jam, and then followed for a mile until the fuel to the engine died, then blagged Naira in great quantities to get you going again. That was during the daytime....if it happened at night you were in peril. One reason why most expats had a driver. |
