The Mayhew Animal Home near Willesden Green (two stops from Acton Central on the overground) also usually has lots of lovely kittens and like HAWS are a no-kill rescue home (ie they don't just kill animals because they have too many) unlike most others.

People tend to think cats like living on their own, but this is definitely not the case with certain breeds and research has proven that cats of all breeds often have very strong bonds with related cats.   Having two. ideally from the same litter,  is very little different from having one, except that it doubles the pleasure, keeps them company, gives them a little playmate so takes some of the obligation to entertain a very lively young kitten off you as they will spend a lot of time playing with each other, and is extremely entertaining.  The only down side is two lots of insurance fees but it is well worth it.
