While as a film buff I of course welcome an additional cinema to the area, I can't help feeling that both a Picturehouse and a Curzon might be too much of a good thing so close together. It seems from what Ealing Council is saying the 'prestige' of having a Curzon in the borough is worth more than the actual quality or diversity of the facility. I fully supported the proposal to establish an arts centre particularly after the St Albans Church debacle which has just ended up as another church after promising much more. As usual the power of chains against individual projects wins out.
