" As for the nasty digs at the TUs" says Vanessa. Well, I remember the wonderful story at the Telephone Exchange building near Chiswick Flyover many years ago....where staff (closed shop employment?) were relied on to honestly count the coinage from GPO phone booths and pay it in to their supervisors. Greed took over and staff arrived at work with coin bags stitched inside their trousers. They were able to extract the high value coins and stagger out of the building at the end of a shift...thus shortchanging the Public Purse. I gather the Unions were well aware..and they had even been warned that a Police raid was imminent. The lot got caught ..the game was up. It seems from Paul Allen's link that the Trades Unions were definitely in the know in this HH scam...and thus worthy of a big dig! |
