Nelson seems to operate on a standard charge of £50 to sweep a chimney but I suspect this might vary depending on the complexity. He was very happy to come and have a look at my chimney without a fee to carry out a straightforward smoke test, which as I mentioned revealed the need to fit a new chimney pot. I think you do have to go into using open fire with your eyes open, if the flu isn't working the gas and smoke are going to end up somewhere. I am going to monitor what is going on upstairs when I use it for real and perhaps buy a carbon monoxide alarm for good measure. Good luck. |
