We're spoiled in London and elsewhere in the UK with so many interesting and atmospheric places to visit. I therefore agree about the dullness in parts of OZ. One is striving to pick up some vibes. The equivalent of the Americal Bar with pianist at the Savoy Hotel in London is far removed from the road from Sydney which was quite a surprising bore. Canberra, en route, seemed to lack any buzz at all. OK the Government Buildings and the Military Memorials were impressive but the rest of the Capital was dead...except when we discovered a Russian restaurant ..but that didn't hit the high notes either. I liked Melbourne with it's trams and Zoo and then visiting St Kilda and the Puffing Billy railway in the Dandedong Hills. But that route you are planning doesn't excite at all.. surprisingly. |
