Hi Andy, thanks for taking the time to post. Once I ascertained the police wouldn't be attending I gathered all the debris and the part number on one piece through a Google search has revealed it was a Mazda CX-5 and dark metallic blue. Given the amount of damage to my wife's car I can't believe they would have driven that far but a 2 hour drive around hasn't revealed any parked up damaged vehicle! Given this car has only been in production for 2 yrs and 10 months there may not be too many of this description on the road but I wouldn't know where to start now other than what you suggest below. By the time the Police can be bothered to read my road traffic accident fail to stop report no doubt it will be repaired and back on the road!
