Not sure what the problem is. That's the correct way of writing a London number. 020 is the dialling code for London, which you don't need to dial if you you are dialling from a landline in London. Hence it's enclosed in brackets to indicate that it's optional. 8834 is (historically) the exchange code and 7336 is the number within the exchange. Exchanges nowadays are far bigger than 10,000 numbers so a number of "exchanges" are housed on on actual system, but nevertheless the exchange code indicates where in London you are. |
