| A few of the businesses approached the council about a BID which if agreed by 51% (I think) of the businesses in W4 would have meant we could have employed our own town manager with funds to spend to promote and improve Chiswick. Funds would be raised by a 2% ring fenced increase in Business Rates. We already pay huge amounts of BR and we do feel that we should see some benefit from the amount we put in but ... We IMHO were headed of at the pass by Hounslow appointing a Joint Town manager with Brenford, that person has also now had Isleworth added to their brief. I would have preferred to have our own TM but I honestly don't think 51% of the businesses would agree to pay the extra 2% even if all that money was used to improve the business environment in Chiswick. Some of us do promote ourselves but many don't |
