It depends a bit by what you mean by "local".  I have never used them directly but Jafvans (Harrow, Pinner & Ruislip) might be worth a look. I do some volunteer driving for Crisis at Christmas and the owner of this company makes a free loan of loads of his vans at Christmas.  Crisis use 80+ "donated" vehicles and the year before last he also gave us a lift to the tube station after returning them to him in January. http://www.jafvans.co.uk/car-hire.html A very small car is currently showing as ca. £120 from 23rd to 27th Dec, so would be worth a taxi to and fro from a purely financial perspective. No relation etc, I was just impressed with his commitment to charitable giving and how the check-in lads treated us when we took the vans back. I was also amused to see one of their classic vans whilst watching "The Plank" with Eric Sykes & Tommy Cooper last year.  Not sure there was too much else of interest in the rest of the film!
