I watched these last night, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I remember them all but I didn't remember just how bad they were. They were mainstream family viewing!! The Captain Scarlet episode with all the puppets smoking and drinking. Terry Wogan presenting Miss UK and ogling over the 16 year old girl in the bikini - "ooh, you're a big girl for 16 aren't you!" And the likely lads in bed together fantasising over schoolgirls in gymslips "It's not top of the pops you want to worry about, it's top of the form!". Ha ha. OMG. Watching that, you can see clearly why it was OK for grown up TV celebs to go after young girls. It was all there, in the family viewing. Watching Barry Norman, Bill Oddie, Nicholas Parsons, Kenny Lynch, and Barry Cryer all squirming when they saw the things they said on prime time TV. I was glued to it. |
