The Duke of York in Devonshire Road has had a complicated history... In terms of its new owners I can confirm that it is now an absolutely excellent local amenity. Warm, inviting, fire burning and a really good local greeting. Quite a few people from the Glebe estate who are known on the forum now frequent it. I thoroughly recommend it. If they do not get local support then it will inevitably go the way of other pubs in that area. Others have queried the food provision. It is clear that they are not going to be able to serve full meals or roast dinners. They do not have the facilities. Apparently this was done in the past but the meals were cooked elsewhere and in the modern era this is no longer allowed. This a great local facility. Please support if you can. I have not had a warmer or friendlier welcome in any other local pub. |
