On a main road, a couple of years ago a woman approached us and asked for money to get a taxi to take her sick friend to hospital as it was an emergency. My husband started to phone for an ambulance and she went hysterical stating that the ambulance driver would refuse to take her once he knew her name. I told her that I had worked in 3 hospitals and had never heard of such a thing and as she insisted I suggest that the police would be more helpful and would help take her friend to hospital. She was off! One evening a few weeks later I was walking alone when she approached me (I had heard talking and then she walked out of an alley way) I spotted movement in the alley and a very tall female (or a male with very long hair) was standing there. The woman started to ask for taxi money to the hospital again and I told her that I didn't have spare change but in the meanwhile I kept walking up the road so that I could not be attacked from behind by the other female in the alley way. I genuinely felt intimated and phoned the police as soon as I got home. They told me to contact them the next time I saw her and they didn't have to wait too long as she turned up a couple of days later with 2 guys who stood well back as she gave her taxi story - yet again. Police were called but missed her and last I heard she was telling her taxi to hospital story in Ealing. |
