If there was information provided and better help and encouragement for newcomers moving in and for those with queries it would increase the participation. Recycling has been flatlining generally - it isn't just in Chiswick. People move around so the information needs to be either repeated or targeted at those moving in. Too often when someone has a query there is no-one who is capable of answering knowledgeably. Surely just making recycling mandatory and havng a better method of helping people to make the most of the services available would increase the rate. How can it be sensible to refuse recycling services to people who want and have the space to recycle? When I last looked waste arisings were still falling. They have been falling for years. I do wonder about the statistics. I still think that there are blocks of flats which could have better recycling facilities. Does the Council offer reduced price Eurobins for recycling? (Despite being household waste for some reason management companies are charged extra for bins which I think is another reason why there is a reluctance to swap general rubbish waste bins for recycling bins.) |
