This explains why network rail refuse to repair the two pedestrian lights on the footbridge. They claim it's the council's responsibility so even if they were to build a dedicated new bridge it's highly likely they wouldn't maintain it and deny any responsibility unless the structural integrity was in danger.Network Rail like the rest of the rail industry is private and puts profits before people. The last recorded accident at this crossing was on the 21st February 1901, nearly 114 years ago! They don't care about the impact on the community or the inconvenience caused. I have written to the local MP's and councillors who have attempted to broach the above repair job but they have had no success. No doubt they will get an audience now with Network Rail but I fear the decision has already been made for us - the crossing will close. |
