"Network Rail does not own the road. It does not have the right to close it." It does, actually, NR have closed 900 level crossings in the last few years, generally on safety grounds. http://www.networkrail.co.uk/transparency/level-crossings/ If you look us up on there you find we haven't been inspected since 2012 and aren't due another until next year http://www.networkrail.co.uk/Transparency/LevelCrossingItemDetail.aspx?lcid=2192&name=Grove%20Park&View=onList -- Types of trains: Passenger & Freight Line speed: 60 mph Approx no of trains per day: 172 Census results per day: 1044 Vehicles, 1146 Pedestrians or Cyclists Recorded incidents: Misuse: Nil incidents Near misses: 1 in year to (Dec-2012) - 0 since. Accidents: Nil incidents -- Hardly sounds like a death-trap to me, so where's this come from? |
