So Fiona Woolf has stepped down as head of the inquiry into historic child sex abuse. I wonder who'll be next to dare to step into this particularly difficult position. Personally, I think they need to look outside the intensely cosy nexus at the centre of the establishment from where the first two choices have been made. Perhaps they could even cast the net north of Watford or south of the grander parts of London - there are, after all, able people of intelligence and integrity elsewhere in Britain. |
