Straw man arguments James. The concern is over artificial light at night and specifically LEDs emitting a blue rich white light (BRWL the common acronym) and its role in melatonin suppression. As the book points out in several places BRWL is the light most effective in melatonin suppression. And while it's been long known that light at night can interrupt sleep patterns, the much more recent discovery of light receptive melanopsin cells in the eyes and the role of melatonin in both sleep and disease, is changing our understanding of both artificial light at night and the nature and quality of that light - i.e., it might not be a good idea to use blue rich street lights of the sort selected for us by LBH, in residential areas.
