About 8 years after the private sector but at least we are getting somewhere. In the private sector the cull affected also those closest to retirement which is reasonable considering their pension pots were already considerable. "Local government employees pay contributions towards their pension - now up to 12.5% of salary, unlike some other parts of the public sector." In the private sector some of us are paying in 18% in a last ditch attempt to make up some of he shortfall after the freezing of final salary schemes. |
