We need reassurances this is only a rumour. The council is authorising new high rise blocks everywhere, this means lots of new people and waste, and lots of new council taxes into their coffers. In return our services are being slashed. Only a few years ago they sold off the community centre on Steele Road. Now a block of flats stands on the corner. There used to be schools on Beaumont and Rothschild Road. This year the centre for people with disabilities on Roslin Road was sold off to the Sofa and Chair company. You can only sell your assets off once, the Council's approach to asset management is a disgrace, with no regards to the future needs of the residents. LBE no longer take green waste and attempted to coerce residents into paying £40 for the optional service. I have been told that this has not worked as residents have been using the excellent Recycling site in Sterling Road. The LBE website is loaded with spin about Recycling and the Environment. Now they want you to drive to Greenford at weekends, how green is that? The Sterling Road site is the last thing local residents can enjoy in return for the huge council taxes we pay. (We don't even get a pack of black bags anymore). Please can someone get reassurances that this is only a rumour. The site is used 7 days a week by tax paying residents of Ealing, Acton and Chiswick. There is never a quiet moment there. SAVE the Sterling Road Recycling centre. |
